Ivan J. Gilbert's practice focuses on employment- and family-based immigration law, including trader/investor, professional, intracompany transferee, NAFTA and extraordinary ability-based visa and labor certification matters. Before joining the firm, Mr. Gilbert was an associate at the New York office of Paparelli & Partners LLP. Prior thereto he gained more than 20 years of experience as an immigration paralegal. Mr. Gilbert is the Chairman of Business Development and Commercial Exchange for the Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association.

Extensive hands-on experience in applying US passive foreign passive investment company ("PFIC") rules. Extensive experience in structuring tax efficient employment secondment arrangements for both corporations and their employees, for expatriates of all nationalities. Specialist in doing business in developing country environments. Seven years of international tax and business experience in Prague, Czech Republic and Bucharest, Romania with Deloitte and Ernst & Young from 1995 through 2002. Over ten years in total experience with Ernst & Young, including Ernst & Young, LLP New York City and San Francisco.
